Cigarette Imports Stay at Zero in Past 2 Months

June 3, 2018

President of the State Center for Tobacco Planning and Supervision announced that there was no import of cigarette in the past 2 months. He added the main reason for realization of this figure is the implementation of clause 3 of article 102 of the Fifth Development Plan of Iran in the past 4 years where all legal importers were obliged to make their own manufacturing lines inside the country.

“We have targeted production of 55 billion sticks in current year”, Mr. Razi said.

Many factors have affected imports of goods and commodities into Iran in the past few months, and this reduction in imports of cigarettes makes the situation for domestic manufacturers even more ideal than before.
